The event also showcased what Tirlán Teagasc Future Farm participant Donal Kavanagh and his family are doing on the farm to be economically and environmentally sustainable. The event was held on the Kavanagh family farm, near Baltinglass.
John Murphy, Tirlán Chairperson, said it was a practical, pragmatic and farmer-focused event that was ‘all about the practical steps.’
The aim of the day was for farmers to take home three or four nuggets that they can implement on their own farm to protect water and help strengthen Ireland’s case to retain the Nitrates Derogation, Mr Murphy said.
