Mark your calendars for an extraordinary night of creativity and community with the 24 Hour Theatre Takeover, set to start at 8pm on Friday, July 19, at the Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny.
This thrilling event will showcase the talents of writers, directors, and actors from Kilkenny, Carlow, and Waterford, who will each independently produce original short plays—all within a span of just 24 hours!

Kicking off at 8pm on Friday, July 19, this unique event will see writers such as Fern Kealy, Cian McGarrigle, Joe Murphy, Eimear Lawlor (author of Kitty's War), Joe Murphy, Steven Buck, and Caroline Sutherland receiving a prompt and a cast list to inspire their solo creative efforts. These completed scripts will then be handed over to directors—Mark Duffy, Edwina Cummins, Gail Caddy,  Martin Matthews—and a talented ensemble including Catriona Bambrick, Lucy Dunne, Rebekah Kelly, Aoibhin Murphy, Anne Murray, and Leah Grace. Waterford’s Luke Corcoran will join the writing team and Jerome O'Sullivan, and Steven Walsh will also join the cast of actors.
The scripts will be finalised and rehearsals will kick off on the morning of Saturday, July 20.

Tickets for this unique theatrical event are priced at just €15, with all proceeds benefiting two wonderful local charities: Cois Nore and Teac Tom. Cois Nore offers crucial cancer support services to patients and their families, while Teac Tom provides vital assistance to individuals affected by suicide and their loved ones.

Supported by Billy Byrnes, Glasrai and Goodies (based in Gowran), LIDL Ireland and the Watergate Theatre, this event, organised by Thomastown playwright Gillian Grattan, promises an unforgettable evening of original theatre and communal spirit.
Make sure to get your tickets now for July 20! Tickets are available online and from the box office. Don’t miss out on this fantastic night of creativity, entertainment, and support for worthy causes.
