The story of the stunning, international success of an Irish designer was the back drop to an event to mark International Women's Day, in Kilkenny City.

Kilkenny Rotary Club and friends were hosted by the Design and Craft Council of Ireland at the current exhibition of work by famous Irish designer Orla Kiely.

Rotary members were joined by members of the Interact Club from Loreto Secondary School for the event.

Emma Dowling, Head of Commercial at DCCI, spoke about the importance of Irish design and crafts across the world, and told the gathering about the current exhibition in Kilkenny. Orla Kiely, A Life in Pattern opened at the gallery earlier this year and is open to visitors until July.

A lovely morning was rounded off by tea, coffee and delicious baked treats courtesy of the Kilkenny Café.
