Duiske College celebrated its 70th anniversary in style with a vibrant two-night Variety Show at The Abbey Hall in Graignamanagh, on the 13th and 14th of this month. The event was a huge success under the direction of Ms. Tracey Reddy and Ms. Aoibh Flynn, bringing together current and past students and staff, and the wider community, for an unforgettable celebration of talent and school spirit.
From the moment the curtain rose, the atmosphere in The Abbey Hall was electric as current students took to the stage with confidence and enthusiasm, delivering a colourful array of singing, dancing, comedy, and drama performances. Nearly the entire student body was involved, showcasing the incredible talent, teamwork, and school spirit that make Duiske College such a unique place.
A notable highlight was a performance by past pupil and renowned singer Robert Grace, who returned to delight the audience and inspire current students. Many former students and staff also took part, adding a wonderful sense of nostalgia and pride to the occasion.
Board of Management Chairperson Niamh O’Driscoll praised the event, saying, “It was a truly amazing production and a thoroughly enjoyable night. The extraordinary talent and confidence of the students were clear to see. The smiles and laughter on stage were a testament to the exceptional care and support they receive in Duiske College. As a past pupil and a parent, it filled my heart with pride.”
Principal Ms Georgina Murphy, also reflected on the success of the event: “The Variety Show captured the creativity, energy, and community spirit that have defined Duiske College for 70 years. It was a pleasure to have our CE Ms Eileen Curtis and Director of Schools Dr. Pauline Egan presented on the night along with all past Principals and Deputy Principals for their contributions to Duiske College. We are incredibly proud of everyone involved and we had a ball in producing such a wonderful show.”
