There was triple the joy for a local Kilkenny couple recently, as Stephen Tynan, a well-known dairy farmer from Ardboy Dairies, and his partner Áine Butler, a Teagasc Drystock Advisor based in Kilkenny, welcomed 'spontaneous' triplets into the world.

The three babies, James, Aoife and Páidí, were born on March 27 at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin.

Each newborn weighed an average of 4lbs.

After a short hospital stay, the family have now happily returned home.
