Kilkenny celebrates the ‘dedication and generosity’ of community volunteers

Kilkenny Volunteer Centre welcomed volunteers and community leaders from across the county to Hotel Kilkenny for a very special evening marking National Volunteering Week 2025.

Despite the damp weather, spirits were high as guests gathered to celebrate the huge contribution volunteers make to life in Kilkenny. The event was a heartfelt recognition of the time, energy and goodwill that local people give so generously.

“National Volunteering Week is one of the highlights of our year,” said Salena Grace, manager of Kilkenny Volunteer Centre. “It gives us the chance to pause, take stock, and say a proper thank you to the many volunteers who quietly and consistently give their time to help others and strengthen our communities.”

The theme for this year’s celebration — ‘Building Community Together’ — aimed to shine a light on how volunteering is about so much more than just the tasks done. Click NEXT to read more and see lots more photographs!
