Coady family and others set out as the last group to complete the Walkathon at John Locke Park
The John Lockes Camogie held their inaugural Dawn to Dusk Walkathon last Saturday at John Locke Park.
To say they nailed it with this unique fundraiser is an understatement as the total raised for the day is closing in on €10,000.
Speaking with one of the main drivers of the fundraiser, club PRO Jane Phelan said the response received from both sponsors and participants was beyond all expectations, and they now know this event will become an annual fixture with the club aiming to make it even bigger.
What an incredible day the club put together, where our Walkathon ran from dawn at 5am right through to dusk at 5pm.
The amazing Dawn to Dusk committee members and team leaders did all the organising and kept the energy going hour after hour.
The wonderful Callan community, along with John Lockes camogie players, coaches and families showed up in such great numbers with enthusiasm.
A special word of thanks to John Lockes GAA Club for their continued support as we move closer to becoming one club, and for kindly providing the facilities despite their busy calendar.

The junior camogie team, who had a wonderful win over Graignamanagh in the championship on Friday evening, finished off the day with a well-organised table quiz in The Big Wheel- great craic was had by all.
The spirit, support and sense of community truly shone through from dawn to dusk and we are extremely grateful to all.
As the Walkathon continued, there was an U10 blitz held on the main pitch. Teams travelled from Kilmacow, Conahy Shamrocks and Graignamanagh for a wonderful morning of camogie by the young girls.
Kilkenny hurling star Cian Kenny, whose great-grandfather Mick Kenny captained John Lockes to their only senior hurling title in 1957, was on hand to give encouragement to the players and also joined some of the Walkathon participants.
Cian later led his club team James Stephens to a resounding victory over Dunnamaggin in the park in the afternoon.
It certainly was a busy and successful day at John Locke Park, Callan.
