Running from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th August, the festival treated locals and tourists alike to a packed programme of books, talks, music, art, heritage and family fun.

The celebrations kicked off on Friday with a lively launch and reception at Abbey Lane, where broadcaster and chef Edward Hayden was joined by retired detective Pat Marry and journalist Beau Donelly for a fascinating conversation that set the tone for the weekend.

Across the three days, book lovers browsed rare editions, signed copies and collectors' treasures from leading independent and antique book dealers who came from all over Ireland and the UK.

There was no shortage of entertainment for families, with children’s workshops at Graiguenamanagh Library, face painting in the Secret Garden and creative sessions at the Old Dock bringing plenty of colour and laughter. Wildlife expert Éanna Ní Lamhna led a popular biodiversity walk, while the Graiguenamanagh Historical Society guided visitors along the town’s rich heritage trail.

Culture and creativity were at the heart of the event, with local crafts on display at the Abbey Hall fair and a vintage fashion exhibition, 'A Vintage Yarn', at Cushendale Woollen Mills. Live music filled the streets thanks to the Graiguenamanagh Brass Band, the Duiske Abbey Choir, Keltic Kats and talented local buskers.

Artists too had their moment, with Paint & Play workshops and open-air Plein Air sessions along the River Barrow culminating in a colourful Sunday exhibition, supported by the Butler Gallery.

Reflecting on the weekend, organising committee member Mary Whelan said "We are thrilled with the success of this year’s festival. The atmosphere in the town was electric, from packed talks and workshops to families exploring our heritage and enjoying books, art, and live music. It was a true celebration of community, culture, and creativity.”

The festival was made possible thanks to the support of main sponsor 'Blacknight', along with Kilkenny County Council, St. Canice’s Credit Union, Creative Ireland, and other local sponsors. Volunteers, performers, authors and community groups were also praised for their role in keeping Graiguenamanagh’s status as 'Ireland’s Town of Books' alive.

The Graiguenamanagh Town of Books Festival continues to grow each year as a much-loved highlight of Ireland’s cultural calendar.
