Slice of success for Kilkenny students at annual Bake Off

Winners from Graignamanagh, Callan and Kilkenny city schools

The Carlow Kilkenny Branch of the Association of Teachers of Home Economics (ATHE) was delighted to host its second annual Carlow Kilkenny Bake-Off, on Thursday, 15th January 15, in Presentation De La Salle College, Bagenalstown.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, this Bake-Off once again brought together students and teachers from across the Carlow and Kilkenny region.

Twelve schools participated in this year’s competition, creating a fantastic atmosphere of excitement, creativity, and community, and highlighting the strong engagement with Home Economics across both counties.

The competition was divided into two categories.

The Junior Competition saw 1st and 2nd year students bake and decorate cupcakes during the morning session, while the

Senior Competition challenged 4th and 5th year students to bake and decorate a full sponge cake in the afternoon. Click the arrows to read on for the winners, and to scroll through the photographs!
