One would never think local auctioneer Joe Coogan was suffering from, of all things, a sore throat such was the intensity of a well-attended sale at Ballycomey on Friday.
The property at Dundaryark, Danesfort was offered in three lots in an absorbing exercise with the auctioneer adjourning on numerous occasions before the hammer finally fell on the entire lot for a price of €1.45 million.
Witty to the last, Joe Coogan closed the gap several times on prospective buyers before quipping he could now defer his regular evening walk alluding to the many journeys to and from the auction rooms on the day.
