Crohana House in Annamult, near Stoneyford in County Kilkenny - which sold for €2,625,000

The property market remained buoyant in Kilkenny throughout 2024, with many high-profile residences changing hands.

All ten of the most expensive properties that sold in County Kilkenny last year sold for seven figure sums.

At the top of the list is Crohana House in Annamult, near Stoneyford in County Kilkenny - which sold for €2,625,000.

The property is described as a ‘most splendid mid-19th Century home set in wonderful mature parkland with single bank fishing on the River Nore’.

In second position on this list is another one of Kilkenny's most iconic countryside manor properties.

Mountloftus House, located near Goresbridge in County Kilkenny, recently sold for the princely sum of €2.2 million.

The properties occupying third and fourth position on the list share not only the fact that they are city centre properties, but both are located in extremely close proximity.

‘Resica Falls’, located in Castle Gardens, sold for €1,530,000 whilst just down the road, ‘Castle Springs’ on the Canal Walk sold for €1,370,000.

Resica Falls is hidden away from the world by the high 18th Century walls of the kitchen garden and yet sits firmly in the heart of the city.

Meanwhile, Castle Springs is described as ‘a unique property which stands on a private site in an idyllic location, adjacent to Kilkenny Castle’.

In fifth place on the list is Grange Manor, situated near Ballyragget in County Kilkenny, which sold for €1,340,000.

Grange Manor is a gracious and imposing historic Georgian country home set within delightful grounds, which include a stretch of the River Nore with fishing rights.

It’s back to Kilkenny City for the property in sixth position, Nore Lodge, situated on the Granges Road in Kilkenny.

Selling for €1,270,000, Nore Lodge is described as a ‘spectacular five-bedroom detached residence that has been meticulously renovated and substantially extended to exacting standards’.

Another remarkable Kilkenny City property comes in at seventh position, Glendine House on the Glendine Road.

This property is tucked away on a large site in a wonderful location in Kilkenny City, with quick access to Kilkenny Golf Club.

Two more properties from the Stoneyford area make the list at eighth and 10th places respectively.

The property at 10th place is indistinguishable due to the lack of a house name and Eircode on the Property Price Register listing but we know it sold for €1,100,000.

Nearby, Abhainn Rí, a premium country home on c. 79 acres sold for €1,200,000.

This unique country retreat is superbly located in a picturesque and peaceful setting in the townland of Ennisnag which is in the parish of Stoneyford.

The property was built by the owners and completed in 2010 to an extremely high specification and standard with incredible attention to detail.

Sandwiched between the two Stoneyford properties in the latter part of the list is Kilree House, which has a listed selling price on the Property Price Register of €1,200,000.

NOTE: All figures above are taken from the Residential Property Price Register, produced by the Property Services Regulatory Authority (PSRA). The PRSA acknowledges that there may be errors in the data in the Register.
