'He was a gentleman' - Tributes paid following sad death of beloved grandfather in Kilkenny

Tributes have been paid following the sad death of Cyril Jacob Sr., late of Glencairn, Sion Road, Kilkenny.

Cyril passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, peacefully, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness.

Beloved husband of Peggy and much loved father of Cyril Jnr, Fiona and Paul.

Cyril will be sadly missed by his loving wife and children, sister Sr. Dorethea (South Africa), daughter–in-law Hilda, son-in-law Wilhelm, Paul’s partner Christopher, grandchildren Kevin, Bernard and Sarah, greatgrandchildren Emma, Sean, Liam, Mieszko and Adie, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Cyril is predeceased by his brothers Peter, Sean, Terry, Michael, Fabian and his sisters Kathleen, Sr. Theresa, Bridie and Agnes.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Cyril, with one mourner writing,

"Sincerest condolences to the Jacob family on Cyril's passing. He was a gentleman. Mar dheis Dé go raibh sé."

While another wrote,

"I express my deepest condolences on the passing of Uncle Cyril. To Aunt Peggy, my cousins Cyril Óg, Fiona and Paul. He was a true gentleman ever so civil. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a Anam."

Funeral Arrangements 

Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home, John's Green, Kilkenny (R95 XE00) on Friday, February 21, from 4pm with Funeral Prayers at 6pm followed by removal to St. John's Church.

Requiem Mass on Saturday morning at 10.30am. Funeral afterwards to Foulkstown Cemetery.

House private please.
