RIP: Kilkenny remembers man who served his country 'loyally and faithfully'

Kilkenny is mourning the passing of Sergeant Paddy Doyle (Retired) who served in the 9th Infantry Bn FCA for many years.

Mr Doyle, from Castlecomer was a much respected member of the community and as well as his army duties, he also played a role in forming the Castlecomer Brass and Reed Band.

"He served his country loyally and faithfully," an army spokesperson said.

Tributes have been paid following the news of his passing. One person said: "Gone but never forgotten by all of the 9th Bn members. With deepest sympathy to all his family and friends."

Another person commented: "A gentleman in every sense of the word."

FUNERAL DETAILS: Reposing at Coady's Funeral Home, Castlecomer on Tuesday, August 5 from 5pm concluding with the Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 7pm.

Funeral cortege arriving at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Castlecomer on Wednesday morning for Requiem Mass at 11am. Paddy will be laid to rest thereafter in the adjoining cemetery.
