Community is devastated by her loss

The late Miriam Brennan, Stoneyford and formerly Kilkenny city

The death occurred on Tuesday, June 13 at St Vincent’s Hospital Dublin, after a short illness of Miriam Brennan, Lawcus, Stoneyford, Co Kilkenny.
Formerly Miriam Dalton of St Teresa’s Terrace, Kilkenny, Miriam married Jim Brennan of Lawcus and came to live in Stoneyford in the late 1970s.
She embraced country life and quickly made new friends.
She got involved in community affairs and was treasurer of Stoneyford Development for some years.
She was also secretary of The Ladies Club and was involved too with the running of the weekly Bingo up to the time of her death.
She was involved in the homework club in Scoil Chiarain Naofa and had great time for the children she helped.
She was also a member of the Active Retirement Group and had just recently returned from a holiday with them in Donegal.
She was a valued member of the parish church choir and loved to sing.
To say the community is devastated by her loss is putting it mildly.
The Guard of Honour that gathered at Stoneyford bridge to accompany Miriam to St Brendan’s Church was a testament to her popularity.
It comprised of members of all the organisations that she was involved with along with her many Bingo friends and a large number of cousins.
Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr Liam Cassin Aghavillar, assisted by Fr Dan Carroll, PP Danesfort and Fr Peter Hoyne, Newmarket.
Soloist for the Mass was Miriam’s niece Kevina. She was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
Miriam is survived by her husband Jim, son Ricky, daughter-in-law Annette and granddaughter Iris, brothers Micháel and Donal, sisters Angela, Teresa and Anne Frances, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and many, many friends especially her great and close friend Maura.
