The Late Fr Denis Murphy
The death has occurred of Fr Denis Murphy, originally from Goresbridge in County Kilkenny, who served as a popular parish priest in Doonane in County Laois for more than two decades.
Fr Murphy died peacefully yesterday, surrounded by his loving family.
Pre-deceased by his parents John and Margaret, brother Eamonn and sisters Rita, Betty Morrissey, Sister Anna (Cross and Passion), Sister Breda (Cross and Passion).
He will be sadly missed by Bishop Denis Nulty, fellow Clergymen and colleagues, his nephew, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours, parishioners and many friends.
Rosary on Tuesday at 7pm in The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mayo, Co Laois. Arrival in St Abban’s Church, Doonane, (Eircode R93 AT86) on Wednesday at 4pm with Prayers that evening at 7pm.
Funeral Mass on Thursday in St Abban's Church, Doonane, at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
