Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam

Long serving members of the James Stephens GAA club were saddened to hear of the sudden death of Tom Neary ( Ardagh, Limerick) on Saturday of last week.

The Neary family (Kickham Street) is steeped in the hurling and camogie traditions of our Gaelic games, whose crafted hurley making business was renowned across the land.

In recent years Tom ran a successful public house business in his adopted home in Ardagh, County Limerick.

In his youth Tom was a highly effective forward on the first ever James Stephens Kilkenny U-21 championship winning team of 1969 and captained the team to claim back to back titles the following season.

Tom was also a minor hurling and football title winner with the club in 1968.

We extend our sympathies to his wife Marie, son Ivan and daughters Olga, Alva and Ezra and their extended families. Our condolences also go to his brothers Paddy (club chairman 2012 - 2014), Micheal, sisters Margaret, Rita and Catherine (Uachtarain Cumann Camogaiochta 2015 -2018).

Following Requiem mass in St. Molua's church, Ardagh on Thursday morning, Tom was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. "Air dheis laimh Dei go raibh a anam dilis".
