It will be all big hair and big musical numbers for this year’s return to the stage by the students of the CBS and Loreto secondary schools!
The talented students have revealed that this year’s show will be the colourful and fun Hairspray!
The show is set to be staged at the Watergate Theatre from Thursday, February 1, to Saturday, February 3. Shows are each evening at 7.30pm with a matinee show on Saturday, at 2.30pm. Tickets for this joint musical production are €16 and on sale now from www.watergatetheatre.com
Hairspray tells the story of the trials and tribulations of a group of highschool friends and their families. Set to an upbeat, ’60s themed soundtrack, the story touches on issues including racism and sizeism, as well as friendships.
Originally a hit movie and a book, Hairspray was adapted for the stage in 2002, and saw a remake of the original movie in 2007.
Music for the show is by Marc Shaiman and the lyrics were written by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman.
The local production is directed by Niamh Dooley with choreographer Michele Wise. Musical directors are Mandy Dowling and Lorraine Maher. Sarah Somers is the assistant musical director. Click NEXT to see more photographs.
