Junior quizzers from St John's Senior School take first place at St Canice’s Credit Union Schools Quiz

Ben, Elliot, Naoise and Noah were presented with gold medals and a trophy at Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel on Friday

A stellar effort from four students at St John's Senior School saw them claim victory in the preliminary junior round of the 2024 Credit Union Schools Quiz on Friday.

Ben, Elliot, Naoise and Noah used their incredible bank of general knowledge to forge a path to victory on what was a very competitive evening in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel.

The questions put to them and all the schools present covered a wide range of topics including geography, history, music and sport.

This St John's Senior School team, under the stewardship of coach Ms Feeley, will now progress to the regional knock-out stage in March, where they will go head to head with other formidable teams.

The goal is to reach the National Final in the RDS, Dublin in April 2024.

Second place on the night went to Scoil Iognáid de Rís (CBS Primary School Kilkenny), who brought the quiz to an intense tie-breaker finale.

The preliminary senior round (U-13) of the 2024 Credit Union Schools Quiz will be held this evening (Monday).
