Social worker, social care worker, psychologist, family support practitioner, speech and language therapist, finance professional, IT specialist and business support were amongst the many career options with Tusla Child and Family Agency highlighted at a special student open evening  for students from Kilkenny.

The event, hosted by Tusla  was attended by third-level students from the region who learned about fulfilling career pathways for professionals working with Tusla.

Representatives from Tusla’s diverse services also attended the event and outlined the work they do in areas such as children in care, duty, fostering, aftercare, family support, welfare protection, business support and supporting family time. Their knowledge and first-hand experiences were helpful to the students in gaining a better understanding of potential career paths within Tusla and its role as a vital support network within the community.

Organiser Collette Ryan, who is Tusla’s principal social worker for quality and service improvement in Carlow, Kilkenny, and South Tipperary, commented:

“We were delighted to organise this open evening to talk to students across Carlow, Kilkenny and South Tipperary about Tusla’s wide range of services and the work we do across the country to improve well-being and outcomes for children. Tusla employs over 5,000 people across many different areas of speciality, both front-line and support. By highlighting the varied career opportunities within Tusla, we hope some of the students who attended this evening will become future colleagues and contribute to our core objective of supporting and protecting vulnerable children and families.”
