PICTURES: A Kilkenny school was among those who took part in this year's ESB Science Blast

Schools from 11 counties took part in investigating the science behind a wide range of questions

A Kilkenny school participated in ESB Science Blast Limerick, the RDS’s flagship Science and Technology Programme.

St Canice's Co-Ed National School (pictured above) took part among primary school children from 11 counties took part in investigating the science behind a wide range of questions, from sports and exercise, to biodiversity and the impact of technology on physical and mental wellbeing.

ESB Science Blast took place in the University of Limerick for the first time this year, starting today, Tuesday May 21 to Thursday May 23 and is set to welcome children from over 100 schools. 

One of the largest science education programmes of its kind, ESB Science Blast is a free and hands-on way to engage young learners with STEM, specifically designed for primary school and delivered by the RDS Foundation through its Science and Technology Programme.

It involves the whole class investigating the science behind a simple question and then showcasing their work at events in Dublin, Limerick and Belfast, with support and feedback from a STEM expert.
