The Board of Management of St Senan's Senior National School in Kilmacow in South Kilkenny have submitted a major planning application to Kilkenny County Council.
Included are plans for the construction of a one and two-storey extension with a total floor area of 1,019m².
This extension is to comprise: four classrooms; two SET rooms; one plant room and a two classroom SEN unit with its own soft play area and sensory garden.
Six parking spaces accessed off the existing main car park are also evisaged together with alterations to one existing classroom with a total floor area of 102m² to form a new main entrance and associated offices.

The demolition of a prefabricated classroom and store with a total floor area of 61m² is also sought as well as the installation of solar PV panels on the existing roof, an air source heat pump and two LPG tanks (below ground), one static water storage tank (below ground) and all associated drainage and site development works in the vicinity of two protected structures - all to facilitate the amalgamation of St Senan’s Senior NS and St Senan’s Junior NS on the same campus.
A decision is due from Kilkenny County Council (unless further information is required from the applicant once the application is reviewed) in late November.
