SETU’s Autumn Schools Open Day 2024 takes place from 10am to 2pm
South East Technological University’s (SETU) Autumn Schools Open Day on Friday, November 8 at the Cork Road Campus in Waterford will give leaving certificate students a glimpse into university life.
School students from across the region and beyond will descend on the Cork Road Campus to experience the facilities and programmes on offer at SETU. This event is aimed at helping senior cycle students considering starting an undergraduate course in September 2025.
While there will be large groups of school students and their teachers attending, individual students and their parents and guardians are welcome to come along and explore what the university has to offer.
There are currently over 140 CAO courses offered at SETU, across a wide range of disciplines including business, engineering and architecture, sports and nursing, law, social sciences, arts and psychology, the creative and performing arts, languages, tourism and hospitality, science and computing.
The Autumn Schools' Open Day includes presentations on all CAO courses, as well as the opportunity to talk to lecturers and current students on each programme. It is the perfect place to get answers to those burning questions in relation to course content, career opportunities and campus life.
Dr Derek O’Byrne, Vice President Academic Affairs, Teaching & Learning at SETU is pleased to welcome Leaving Cert students, their teachers, and parents/guardians to SETU Waterford on Friday.
“Our ‘right student, right programme’ ethos is all about ensuring students find the best fit for their future. We want each student who joins us to feel confident that they’ve chosen a course and career path that aligns with their goals and passions, rather than simply following friends or popular trends. That’s why in-person events are so valuable. They give students the chance to meet future lecturers, ask important questions, explore our facilities, and envision themselves here for the next four years,” said Dr O’Byrne.
Making a well-informed decision about your future is so important, says Jess Lawton, SETU’s Marketing & Outreach Officer. “SETU is here to support students every step of the way. Come along to our Autumn Schools' Open Day to see what we have to offer and get answers to all your questions. Our aim is for students to walk away feeling confident, informed, and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead,” Jess said.
