A scheme for ‘school zone’ road safety improvements is continuing in Graignamanagh.

The project, across the country, uses recognisable design features, such as pencil shaped bollards, colourful road markings, improved footpaths and pedestrian crossings to highlight the presence of the school and encourage traffic to slow down, as well as encouraging increased active travel among students.

An update for local councillors, at the recent meeting of the Callan Thomastown district representatives, was that footpath work is taking place in the town.

Area engineer, Declan Murphy, said the current phase of work is along Mill Road, adjacent to Duiske Lane.

This week a new phase of Safe To School works were announced, with Scoil Bhride Paulstown  included.
