Students from
Duiske College, in Graignamanagh, recently travelled to UCD where they won the overall award of gold in the Cyberwise project, focusing on Cyberwise and Climate Change.
The project required the students to focus on a specific theme of immersive technology and teaching sustainability. The students completed two parts of the project - Firstly they designing a bench, flower box and planted a tree to show their contribution to Climate Change. Secondly the students looked at the theme of fake news and cyberwise and how we are manipulated by false news and created awareness around the school to demonstrate how you can spot fake news and identify the real issues.
As a result of their tremendous work - The Duiske College Transition Years won gold, placing first place in the competition against many other schools across the country. Students were presented with the award along with gold medals each and a Cyberwise hoody.
Everyone in Duiske College is extremely proud of the students who are an example of the excellence instilled there in all students, they are role models in their school. Thank You to Ms Brophy for her hard work and Mr Browne for his assistance on the day. They now travel to Queen's University in January to present their project. The future is bright in Duiske College.
