Graignamanagh students graduate from university STEM programme

Duiske College ladies' success at Maynooth University

A group of Kilkenny students is celebrating graduation from a fantastic initiative that encourages young females to explore careers in STEM.

On January 29, Duiske College in Graignamanagh proudly celebrated the graduation of 10 Fifth Year pupils from the STEM – Passport for Inclusion programme at Maynooth University.

As part of their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) journey, the students participated in an immersive experience over three one-day workshops at Microsoft DreamSpace in Dublin last year, where they engaged with cutting-edge technology, problem-solving activities and inspiring mentors in the industry.

CAO Points
The Duiske students completed project work set and evaluated by Maynooth University over the course of the year and this was set as a module in Transition Year with Mr Brennan their Science teacher.

Their hard work and commitment has now been rewarded with 50 additional CAO points for STEM courses at Maynooth University and other Technological Universities in Ireland, giving them a fantastic advantage for their future studies and careers.

Duiske College is incredibly proud of these students for their dedication, ambition, and passion for innovation and to Mr Brennan for inspiring his students and assisting them in their endeavours.

Their achievements highlight the importance of fostering female participation in STEM and ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to thrive in these dynamic fields.

Duiske College has had great STEM success, they were also awarded first place in the UCD Cyberwise Immersive Technology and Teaching Sustainability event earlier this year.

The school works closely with third level institutions like UCD and Maynooth to enhance teaching and learning and give opportunities to students to succeed.
Fostering these relationships is very important to Principal Georgina Murphy who looks forward to more success in the future.
A huge congratulations to the graduates – the future of STEM is brighter because of you! Click NEXT to see more photographs!
