The TY cast of the 'All Shook Up' production, performed in Castlecomer Community Hall
For the first time in 17 years, Castlecomer Community School held a school musical, 'All Shook Up'.
The fact that this was the first post-Covid cultural event to be held in the Community Hall in Castlecomer only added to the novelty and sense of excitement in the Community School and beyond for the week.
Starting on Tuesday with a matinee for local primary schools, the cast got off to a flying start with a near-packed house.
Good news travels fast and the level of the performance was such that the next two performances were sell-outs.
A delighted TY Year Head, Pat Tynan said, "We could have sold Friday night's show out twice over. It was a great vote of confidence in our Transition Year students."
A delighted School Principal, Mr Pat Murphy said, "We took a risk even putting on a School Musical this year with everything that was going on. There were times when it was touch and go, but thankfully the whole crew persevered and look at the result!
"I am very proud of everyone involved in this venture. As the only Community School in Kilkenny, what we really value is that everyone in our community gets the chance to take part. We decided at the start that every student in TY would have a role to play and they did just that. Roll on 2023!"
