Attendees will have the chance to join a tour of the campus and experience SETU’s top-class facilities firsthand
Prospective students from Kilkenny will have the opportunity to experience state-of-the-art educational facilities and explore the areas of study on offer at SETU’s Spring Open Day on Saturday, May 10 from 10am to 2pm.
With the CAO Change of Mind facility open, students have the chance to learn more about the different courses, modules and employment opportunities available at SETU before finalising their CAO applications. Prospective students can hear directly from SETU lecturers, course leaders and student support staff, on areas like accommodation, sports, scholarships, course content and admissions.
Talks, tours, and more
Attendees will have the chance to join a tour of the campus and experience SETU’s top-class facilities firsthand. With representation from SETU’s sports clubs and societies, prospective students can gain insight into life as a university student and the exciting world ahead of them.
Scheduled talks will be held throughout the day, each aimed at helping answer any potential questions surrounding key areas of university life. Student support staff will be on hand to answer questions on the CAO, how to apply, and much more.
Lecturing staff from each of SETU’s career-focused courses will be available to answer questions and share insights into the different programmes.
Here to help
Alison Moore, the Schools Liaison Officer at SETU in Carlow, said, “We are delighted to welcome students and their families to our Spring Open Day during this very important time. We understand that choosing where to study is a big decision and our aim is to help make that decision easier. We want to give students first-hand experience of the great opportunities on offer at SETU. There will be talks, tours, and demonstrations throughout the day, so come along with your friends and family, and ask any questions you may have. We are here to help.”
Exciting opportunities
Among the exciting opportunities available at the University, SETU and Engineering the South East are launching the new Autom8 Scholarship. The scholarship is delivered in partnership with top manufacturing and automation companies in the south east and aims to increase the skillset and talent base within the area of automation.
The scholarship is open to all applicants who have applied to the CAO for September 2025 entry into SETU’s Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Automation Engineering (SE700) and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Robotics and Automated systems (SE710).
