Kilkenny City Vocational School (KCVS) is celebrating a year to remember both inside and outside the classroom with a plethora of achievements.
Arguably, the greatest achievement of all was the KCVS' selection to represent Ireland at a European Education Area Strategic Framework’s Peer Learning Activity event (PLA) which brought together educators, policymakers, and experts from across EU Member States to explore how best to engage learners and parents as key actors in shaping school success. Representing both Kilkenny and Carlow ETBs and the national education community, the KCVS delivered a presentation titled 'Building Meaningful Partnerships with Learners: Student Participation, Where Policy Meets Practice'.

The presentation highlighted the school’s commitment to amplifying student voice, fostering inclusive school culture and embedding student leadership in school development.
The presentation offered a real-world example of how national policy initiatives, such as Ireland’s DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) framework, can be translated, aligned and integrated into impactful school-level practices.
In further good news, the local school has successfully been awarded EU funding through Erasmus+.
"We are excited for this fantastic new partnership and look forward to the benefits and opportunities it will provide to our students and the entire school community," a spokesperson said.
