Tributes have been paid to the former President of St Kieran's College and Freshford parish priest Monsignor Kieron Kennedy, who died on Tuesday. His funeral details have now been confirmed.
"We are very sad to hear news of the unexpected death of our former colleague and friend Rt Rev Mgr Kieron Kennedy," the school stated.
"We are grateful for his many years of service as President of St Kieran's College. Our prayers are with his family, Bishop Coll and all the priests of the Diocese of Ossory at this sad time. May he rest in peace."
FUNERAL DETAILS
The Right Reverend Monsignor Kieron J Kennedy, Episcopal Vicar for Social and Family Affairs, Parish Priest of Freshford, Kilkenny. Unexpectedly, but peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, June 10.
Pre-deceased by his parents Daniel and Mildred. Monsignor Kieron will be inconsolably missed by his sisters Miriam and Dorothy, his brother Donal, brother-in-law Tim, beloved nieces and nephews Sarah and Daniel, Donal, David and Leah, sister-in-law Shelley, Bishop Niall Coll and Priests and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Ossory, close family friends Bishop William Crean, Bishop Jim Curry and Monsignor Martin Hayes and Sr. Therese Gillis who have journeyed with him for many years, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Monsignor Kieron’s Funeral will arrive at St Lachtain’s Church, Freshford, (Eircode R95 K003) on Saturday, June 14 at 7pm, reposing in the church overnight.
Funeral Prayers on Sunday, June 15 at 5.30pm followed by removal to St Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny, (Eircode R95 CP46), arriving for reception prayers at 7pm.
Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, June 16 at noon with burial afterwards in Foulkstown Cemetery, Kilkenny (Eircode R95 A891).
