Scoil Mhuire in Carrick-on-Suir has appointed a new Kilkenny Principal

Scoil Mhuire in Carrick-on-Suir has welcomed the appointment of a new principal with Kilkenny links.

Mooncoin native Helen McTighe takes up the role after four years at the helm of Scoil Aireagail in Ballyhale.

“Ms McTighe brings a wealth of experience in education and school leadership, having worked in both the voluntary and ETB sectors since 2001,” a school spokesperson said.

“Helen is passionate about teaching and learning, student wellbeing and collaborative leadership. She is looking forward to getting to know the students, staff, parents and wider community of Scoil Mhuire.

The newly appointed Principal as described her appointment as a ‘privilege’.

“I am leaving one brilliant school community in Ballyhale to join another equally brilliant school in Carrick-on-Suir,” she said.

“I’m delighted to be afforded the privilege of leading Scoil Mhuire. The dedication of the outgoing Principal, Ms Mary O’ Keeffe, along with Deputy Principal, Ms. Michelle O’ Sullivan and their wonderful staff in providing quality teaching and learning rooted in an ethos of care, respect and community is something I look forward to nurturing and building upon in the years ahead,” Ms McTighe concluded.
