A Kilkenny community raised a glass on Sunday as one of their own fired his team into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
It was celebration time for all involved with Tullogher-Rosbercon as Thomas O'Connor was on target for Wrexham in their third round win over Shrewsbury Town.
O'Connor's goal secured Wrexham a 1-0 FA Cup win at Shrewsbury as they reached the fourth round for the second year running.
The local success story has brought back many happy memories for Kilkenny soccer fans following the FA Cup exploits by local soccer player Gavan Holohan and his Grimsby Town teammates in last year's competition.
In the 2022/23 season, the Kilkenny native was named in the Emirates FA Cup Team of the Season.
The Grimsby Town midfielder joined some vaunted company, alongside players such as Manchester United's Casemiro and Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez.
Grimsby made FA Cup history last season, becoming the first club to knock out five teams from a higher division – Plymouth, Cambridge, Burton, Luton and Southampton.
It was Holohan’s two penalties at Southampton that sent the Mariners into the last eight for the first time in 84 years.
