REVEALED: Kilkenny soccer clubs vote on whether to move to a calendar year season

Clubs in the Kilkenny & District League (KDL) have voted to reject a motion to move the club football season to a single year.

In an arrangement that has been christened 'calendar football', the FAI are requesting leagues across the country to structure their competitions to be played within a 12 month period i.e. the season starts and finishes at some point in 2026 rather than in its current format which runs from August of one year until May of the next.

However, Kilkenny clubs have predominantly voted against the motion with only three clubs voting in favour.
