Evergreen's Ify Nzewi was named the Kilkenny & District League Premier Division Player of the Year Picture: Mark Desmond
An outstanding season, in which he helped his club capture a fine haul of silverware, has seen Ify Nzewi win the Kilkenny & District League’s Premier Division Player of the Year.
Nzewi was part of the ’Green side who won their eighth consecutive Premier Division title in the 2024/25 season. As well as that, Gary Maher’s side claimed the Maher Shield when seeing off city rivals Freebooters, before they got their hands on the Leinster Junior Cup thanks to a 1-0 win over Carlow’s New Oak. They added a fourth title to a groaning trophy cabinet when they beat the Blues again to lift the Mock Lawlor Premier Cup.
The remaining junior awards went to players who helped their clubs earn promotion. Darragh Kelly (Lions) was named Division One’s top player, with Michael O’Neill of Division Two league champions East End United and Adam Reason of Division Three’s Deen Celtic B side also honoured. Cliona Kenny of the Lions was named winner of the women’s award.
