A trophy-laden career will come to a close when Karen Duggan plays her last game with Peamount United this weekend.
The Piltown native is set to call time on the soccer chapter of her sporting life after the Peas play Bohemians in the Women's League of Ireland on Saturday.
Duggan, who was capped 35 times for the Republic of Ireland senior women's team, has played for Peamount since 2011, bar a three-season spell with UCD Waves between 2014 and 2017. A major influence in the women's game, she was named Senior International Women’s Player of the Year in 2016 and won the Player of the Season award in 2016 and 2020, along with four league titles.
She is also a well-known pundit. As well as a regular for RTÉ, she featured on podcasts and in the pages of national newspapers.
Peamount's loss will, however, be to Piltown's gain. Duggan is part of her home club's senior camogie team and will be hoping to help them retain their county title when they face Dicksboro a week on Sunday.
