Rory O’Dowd, a second class pupil at Castlecomer’s Scoil Íosagáin, will realise a dream of every young football enthusiast when he represents Ireland in an under-nines international soccer tournament.
The event, held in Barcelona’s Nou Camp Stadium over a four-day period from April 27th to 30th, will see Ireland compete against teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Spain in a Five Nations tournament.
Rory plays with ‘Comer’s Deen Celtic and Teaching Tekkers teams, where he is described as a ‘strong defender and goal-scoring midfielder’. Rory will be accompanied on his adventure by parents Audrey and Cathal, his sister Heidi and grandparents James Farrell and Michael O’Dowd.
