Ormonde Villa's Jamie Ryan
Nine-teen goals were scored across the four matches, with Premier Division heavyweights Evergreen, Freebooters and Fort Rangers joined by surprise package Ormonde Villa at the penultimate hurdle.
On Sunday, May 17, both semi-finals will be down for decision in Derdimus. Evergreen will play Ormonde Villa at 11am, followed at 3pm by an all Premier Division affair between Fort Rangers and Freebooters.
FEATURED MATCH – Newpark 1, Ormonde Villa 3
Ormonde Villa caused the surprise of the round, knocking out their Premier Division neighbours, two tiers above them in the Kilkenny & District League.
All appeared to be going in Newpark’s favour right up until the dying minutes of the tie when the pendulum swung completely.
Top scorer for ‘Villa, Owen Wall, uncharacteristically missed a spot kick just before the half hour mark, with Tony Marques putting the hosts in front just on the brink of half-time, a lead they held all the way until the 89th minute.
But cometh the hour, cometh the man, set up by Owen Wall, Jamie Ryan, fresh from his travels in Australia, equalised to force the game to an additional 30 minutes.
Super-sub Barry Lawlor found the target with a brace in extra time to send the underdogs into the next round.
RESULTS – Evergreen 5, Bridge United 0
Fort Rangers 4, Southend Utd 1
Freebooters 5, Callan Utd 0
