Muckalee won the Kilkenny senior football league final thanks to a breathtaking display in the closing quarter which saw them pull away for victory from close neighbours and rivals Railyard in the decider played under the lights in Muckalee.
This was the first time the North Kilkenny club had such a honour.
The reigning county champions got off to a flying start when John Maher and Brian Byrne grabbed two points apiece before the Railyard got themselves back into to the game with points from Ronan Walsh and Caleb Roche. The score was 0-4 to 0-2 in favour of the winners at the end of the quarter.
By the break the gap had been cut to the minuim, 0-6 to 0-5. Soon after the restart Joe Maher and Noel Roche swopped points before Caleb Roche levelled matters, and the action really warmed up.
From there on Muckalee cut loose, however, with Byrne, Joe and John Maher, Mick Morrissey, John Mulhall and Colin McGrath all helping themselves to points to seal a well deserved win.
