IT MAY be Summer-time, but children all over Kilkenny will be getting ready to spend their holidays in School.

IT MAY be Summer-time, but children all over Kilkenny will be getting ready to spend their holidays in School.

The eFlow FAI Summer Soccer Schools will kick-off in the county next week, with the Kilkenny & District League hosting one of a number of camps in the county.

The week-long soccer schools are open to boys and girls aged six to 14 years of all abilities and, with three different camps on offer including girls only and goalkeeper camps, there is plenty of choice for all levels of ability and experience.

The camps, which are overseen by FAI-accredited coaches, provide an opportunity for children to learn new skills, develop existing skills, have fun and benefit from the guidance of some of Ireland’s best soccer coaches.

On the first day of camp, each participant will receive a full set of kit, a football and a backpack - all exclusive to the eFlow FAI Summer Soccer Schools.

“I would encourage young people from all over Kilkenny to get involved in the Summer Soccer Schools programme,” said Ireland international Stephen Ward. “I participated in the camps when I was a kid and not only did it help me to improve as a player, it was also great fun during the Summer holidays.”

The action starts on Monday, July 2 with the Kilkenny & District League hosting a mainstream camp in Derdimus. The camp will run until Friday. The League’s ground will also host a girls’ only camp from July 9 to 13 and a goalkeepers’ camp from July 4 to 6.

The Lions will be the next club from the Kilkenny & District League to host a Summer camp with a mainstream camp for the next generation of footballers. The camp will be held at their grounds on Cork Road from July 9 to 13.

Clover United will host a mainstream camp at Meagher Doheny Park, Rathdowney from August 6 to 10, while Highview Athletic’s Harristown grounds will also host a mainstream camp, the Graignamanagh camp running from August 13 to 17.

The final Kilkenny camp will be hosted by Paulstown 06. The mainstream camp runs from August 20 to 24.

Further information on the camps is available from or 1890-653653.
