Kilkenny’s quest to lift the Oscar Traynor trophy has gone through a drastic change - even before a ball has been kicked.
Following the withdrawal of some teams from the inter-league competition (Waterford are among the absentees) teams in the Leinster region were redrawn in new groups.
Kilkenny will now take on Carlow and the United Churches League, a Dublin-based side they beat to lift the last of the five Oscar Traynor titles won by the league.
There is no word yet on whether Ollie Walsh will remain on as manager, but the League will be looking for a new Youths boss. It is expected that nominations will be heard at the League council meeting tonight (Wednesday) in the Springhill Court Hotel.
