FOOTBALL fans have been urged to get behind a Kilkenny team who are chasing national glory.
That was the call-to-arms from the Kilkenny & District League, who encouraged people to get out and cheer for the Kilkenny Youths ahead of their All-Ireland semi-final clash with the Clare League this weekend.
“They are a really good team and deserve great support,” was the message from secretary Tom Mullins, who spoke at the League’s recent Council meeting. “If they win they will have a home draw in the final. All the players look comfortable on the ball and they have won every game convincingly.”
The youths are just one of the teams who have shone for the League in their travels across Ireland this season.
“On behalf of the League I congratulate all of the Kilkenny teams on their great displays in this season’s inter-league competitions,” the secretary added.
The under-12s will play Cavan/Monaghan in their Leinster final on the weekend of April 9/10. The under-16s will also be in Leinster final action that weekend, travelling to Ferrycarrig Park to play Wexford.
