North Kilkenny author Anne Kelly has launched her debut novel, The Heir and has received a great reaction to her work.
The launch took place in the Avalon House Hotel in Castlecomer last week.
Anne(Gleeson) Kelly, is originally from Castlecomer but now living in Eadestown, Naas.
The story of The Heir is a romantic fictional and sometimes factual novel dated in and around 1847 in South Yorkshire England.
The book took Anne roughly four to five years to write, bearing in mind she never took on a challenge like this before, of 36 chapters and approximately 96,000 words!
The Heir’s protagonist Elizabeth Anderson is trapped in an arranged marriage to Sir Charles Anderson, a much older man. The marriage is doomed to failure as there is no love shown to either George, her baby, or to Elizabeth herself.
Elizabeth fears for her life living under the same roof as Charles.
She plans to escape and take her son, heir to her husband’s vast estate. An intriguing journey filled with unexpected twists and turns begins. The reader follows Elizabeth as she searches frantically for answers, and ultimately freedom.
The Heir was officially launched by Jane Meally, Chairperson Clogh Writers Group.
This page-turning novel is now fast becoming a best seller for Anne, who is self published, and gives inspiration to writers to believe in their work.
The book is available in Eamon Holohan’s Gift Shop, Kilkenny Street and in The Book Centre in Kilkenny.
