Cllr Fidelis Doherty has raised concern over alleged recent incidents of stone throwing and anti-social behaviour impacting residents of a housing estate in South Kilkenny.

Speaking at this month's meeting of Piltown Municipal District, Cllr Doherty raised the issue of 'anti-social behaviour' around the greenway at the back of Árd Glas housing estate in Ferrybank.

"There's still a lot of activity, stones being thrown," she said. "The screening barrier needs to be a good bit higher, people can’t be living in fear, hopefully it can be resolved."

Area Engineer Stan Cullen stated that 'problems have been reported into the [local area] office in that regard'.

Upon further inspection, breaches were discovered in the nearby fencing along the greenway in the area.

"We have rectified the damaged sections," Cullen said. "And are not sure if there have been any instances since then."
