It takes a team to make a community look well, and in Mooncoin the local Tidy Towns team is doing a great job!

As anyone who lives in the area, or has passed through in recent weeks, will agree, the approach road to the town has benefited from a lot of work.

For the last two weeks the volunteers with Mooncoin Tidy Towns have been cleaning up the footpath approaching Mooncoin from the Carrick on Suir side.

The results have been very positive, with everyone giving a hand. The footpath is over a 1.5km stretch. The committee has asked for some more volunteers to join the group in this work. They meet every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm.

So far they have cut hedging, cleared sods of grass from the path, cut straight edges on the path and on the verge of the N24.

Thanks to proper warning signage, the traffic on this narrow stretch of road are very co-operative with the workers cleaning up the path, allowing them to work in relative safety.

The clean up sods and debri are taken away by John Crowley in the tractor.
If you can spare some time on a Wednesday evening and want to get involved in your community, get in touch with Mooncoin Tidy Towns.
