Fighting talk from Kilkenny councillor on major local issue

Ferrybank Shopping Centre

Cllr Ger Frisby says that councillors in South Kilkenny are ‘getting it in the neck’ from people over the ongoing lack of information on any proposed opening timeline for Ferrybank Shopping Centre.

When informed that Dunnes Stores (who own the shopping centre) have been reached out to by the local authority in advance of the new Ferrybank-Belview Local Area Plan, Frisby stated that ‘we have to take the gloves off and start boxing hard or it’s going to keep going around in circles’.

“We’re going to have to start pressing the buttons and getting tough,” he continued. “We have Dunnes now and they’re in the ring with us. We have to progress this issue as public representatives.”

Frisby futher added that he is ‘looking forward’ to a reply from Dunnes on the issue and also acknowledged the centre’s huge potential positive impact on the area.
