Mooncoin native Maria Wall has been elected National Vice-President and Policy Director of Ógra Fianna Fáil at the organisation’s National Youth Conference in Athlone, Co. Westmeath.

The Kilkenny woman's election places her among the top ranks of Fianna Fáil’s youth movement and earns her a seat on the party’s National Executive giving a strong voice to Kilkenny’s young people at the highest level of the party.

The event was attended by An Taoiseach, former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurcú and senior party figures, highlighting the growing influence of Ógra within the broader Fianna Fáil movement.

Wall, who stood in last year’s Kilkenny County Council local elections for the Piltown electoral area, said her focus will be on ensuring young people across Kilkenny and Ireland are heard on key issues.

“Young people are not the leaders of tomorrow, we are pivotal today,” she said. “I’m incredibly proud to represent Kilkenny and to bring the concerns of young people, especially around housing, the cost of living, and access to opportunity to the table. I’ll work with Fianna Fáil to do everything we can to make life a bit better for people.”

Her election has been widely welcomed by local members of Ógra Fianna Fáil and Fianna Fáil representatives across the country, who praised her passion, energy, and commitment to real change.
