What should the new Ferrybank to Waterford bridge be called? - Kilkenny Live

Kilkenny and Waterford are set to be further connected when the new sustainable transport bridge crossing the River Suir is opened to the public in 2026 - but what should it be named?

At present, the main bridge crossing the River Suir into Waterford City centre is Rice Bridge - named after famous Kilkenny native, Edmund Ignatius Rice.

The River Suir Bridge on the outskirts of Waterford (also known as the Thomas Francis Meagher Bridge) is commonly referred to as the 'Cat Flap', due to the large number of Kilkenny commuters who access it.

Soon, a large number of pedestrians in Ferrybank (which is administered predominantly by Kilkenny County Council) are sure to also make regular use of the new sustainable transport bridge to access Waterford City.
