Kilkenny's Eoin Murphy
Goalkeeper on the Kilkenny senior hurling team, Eoin Murphy has said the loss of life on the N25 Waterford to Glenmore Road in South Kilkenny can't continue and has pleaded for urgent action.
A major public meeting will be held next week to demand immediate safety improvements and push for the long-awaited upgrade of the N25 between Waterford and Glenmore.
"We're standing here at one of the most dangerous stretches of road here in the heart of South Kilkenny," Murphy said.
"Families shattered, communities devastated. We can't let this continue, we need your help to save lives," he continued, encouraging people to attend the public meeting.
Over the past 26 years, 15 people have lost their lives and dozens of others have been left injured on the local stretch of road.
