St. Joseph’s Home in Kilmoganny held a celebration to officially launch their new minibus and show their appreciation to the many people in and around the community who made it possible.
In a speech on the night, Chairperson of the Board Denise Kirwan said: “Last Christmas we were fortunate enough to get a grant towards the purchase of a minibus in order to develop our day centre and in time hopefully a meals on wheels service. The grant however only covered 50% of the minibus and the remainder came from fundraising and donations.”
“From the Dunnamaggin Gymkhana and Ned’s Annual Tractor Run, to the Kilmoganny Christmas Fayre and the Drama Club, from Bernie Madigan’s Captain’s Prize Day fundraiser and those who climbed Mount Nevis for us,” she outlined.

“To the many others who frequently give donations to the home or donate their time and energy, like the ladies who make sandwiches every year for Ned’s fundraiser, to Colette and Henry who play music every week, to Jimmy who does the weekly bingo and the many families who choose St Joseph’s as their charity of choice when their loved ones pass away,” she continued.
“Families and the community time after time donate to us, and every penny of that goes to trying to enhance our residents' lives. We are extremely lucky to have a home like St Joseph’s in our community,” Denise concluded.
