History of handball - national project needs photographs

Kilkenny handball: busy start to 2018 season

A national project is being carried out on the history of Handball with a special focus on the alleys where the game was played.

One of the strong sporting tradition in Windgap, the game was played at the Barracks in Baunreigh near the Slatequarries and in the alley between the Creamery and O’Shea's now Guinans in Windgap.

Having provided so much activity and recreation for over one hundred years there is only one iconic photo of the alleys.

As a result please contact Michael O’Shea with any old handnball photos or items of historic interest.
