Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has confirmed that the HSE will appoint a design team for the expansion of the primary care centre in Ballyhale by the end of the year.

The expansion of the primary care centre in Ballyhale will have a Design Team appointed by the end of the year, Kilkenny Live has learned.

Fianna Fáil TD for Carlow/Kilkenny, Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere, received the update from Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill regarding the projects current position during parliamentary questions in the Dáil last week.

In her reply, the Minister said that the ‘HSE is in the process of appointing a Design Team for this project’ and ‘it is expected that a Design Team will be appointed in Q4 2026’.

After a design team is appointed design development will follow thereafter. Once this has been progressed an overall programme for the expansion of infrastructure in Ballyhale will be determined.

“I am happy to hear of the update from the Minister that Ballyhale Primary Care Centre will have their design team appointed by the end of the year. Ballyhale is in desperate need of the expansion to their health infrastructure, and we need to progress this project as quick as possible,” Deputy Cleere said.

“The people of Ballyhale deserve adequate health infrastructure, and the expansion of the facilities there at the moment is much needed,” he said.

Deputy Cleere who has been a strong advocate even before his election as a TD for the upgrade of the health infrastructure in Ballyhale, concluded by saying he hopes the appointment of a design team will finally ‘get the ball rolling’.

“I have continually highlighted this issue along with the upgrade to Graiguenamanagh Primary Care Centre also directly with the Minister, and although this is a small update of sorts, hopefully this will be the start the ball rolling to get this much needed project delivered.”
